Japan launch opens doors to Queensland's Pure Heaven

A small family company based in Stanthorpe is leading the way for Queensland in the competitive beauty industry in Asia.

Supporting Eco Cosmetics' Pure Heaven product launch in Tokyo yesterday, Treasurer Andrew Fraser said that the company was a Queensland pioneer in Asia's beauty markets, and that its success could help to open the way for other Queensland organic beauty companies to sell products to Japan.

"Eco Cosmetics has been working closely with Trade Queensland since 2006 on its Asia export plan, and today reaches a new milestone by launching its new range of organic face care products through leading retail outlet, Tokyu Hands in the Ginza, Tokyo," Mr Fraser said.

"In partnership with Trade Queensland, Eco Cosmetics also presented Pure Heaven gift packs last year to 55 delegation members of the Japan Women's Innovative Network when they visited the State. This delegation included representatives of some of the biggest companies in Japan.

"Eco Cosmetics has worked hard to capitalise on the launch of its first Pure Heaven overseas store in Shanghai and is focussed on further expansion within the Asian region.

"The Japanese cosmetics and toiletries industry in 2008 was valued at US$13.48 billion, yet imports only made up US$1.5 billion, so there is great potential for products from places like Queensland, where product quality is high, and pure ingredients can be sourced.

"Success in Japan for the Pure Heaven brand has strong potential to further enhance the profile of Queensland's beauty sector, and especially organic beauty products, which could open new doors for Queensland beauty companies in Japan and across Asia.

"On behalf of the Queensland Government, I congratulate Justin and Maria Heaven of Eco Cosmetics Australia on the launch of this new range in Japan, and on the success of the Pure Heaven brand in both Japan and China," Mr Fraser said.

Eco Cosmetics opened its first international Pure Heaven retail outlet in Shanghai in October 2009.

Keeping with the company's clean, green image, the Shanghai store is 100 per cent powered by green power.

Pure Heaven products feature fresh Queensland botanical extracts, produced and harvested with sustainable practices in line with the company's organic philosophy.

Tokyu Hands is a leading Japanese retail outlet in Japan with 20 outlets across Japan. Its promotion of Eco Cosmetics' Pure Heaven range of organic face care products has been facilitated by Trade Queensland, in partnership with international investment company Seven Seas International.
