materials and ingredients...
- melt and pour soap base
- glass bowl (for use in microwave, or in double boiler)
- soap moulds (any plastic containers, jelly moulds,
- chocolate moulds )
- fragrance (as a guide work on using a rate of 1 to 2%
- of total soap weight)
- soap additives such as flower petals, dried herbs,
- oatmeal, seeds, honey, aloe vera, vitamin e,
- mica glitter powder etc
- colour - cosmetic grade
- large spoon
directions...
1. cut required amount of melt and pour soap base into small pieces and
place in glass bowl,microwave at short intervals until all pieces are
liquid
2. add your chosen colour and stir well, let cool slightly
3. add your chosen fragrance, stir well
4. add in any other chosen additives while working quickly to avoid the soap cooling and setting in the bowl
5. pour into moulds, cool for 30 minutes then release them fromthe moulds and let dry
6. seal them in plastic bags or cellophane wrapping to keep the fragrance fresh
tips...
- if soap base begins to set in your mixing bowl simply remelt in
microwave at short intervals being careful not to overheat it
- keep your melt and pour soap base in an air tight container when not in use, away from sunlight and heat
- if you are in a hurry to unmould your soaps, simply pop them in the freezer for a few minutes to speed up the setting process, but don't leave them in for too long otherwise the soap will take in moisture and "sweat" when at room temperature
- preferably use glass or stainless steel mixing bowls instead of plastic ones as fragrances can linger in plastic for many weeks!
